What is a tubular electric heater

A tubular electric heater (TEN, per GOST 13268-88) is a resistance heating element enclosed in a metal sheath tube. The resistive wire (nichrome or FeCrAl) is wound on a ceramic core, embedded in compacted magnesium oxide powder (periclase), and sealed inside the metal tube. The result is a compact, reliable heater that transfers heat directly to the surrounding medium — liquid, air or solid surface.

TEN-Miass produces tubular heaters of any specification. The heater can take any geometric shape and functional configuration. Sheath material is selected by medium: carbon steel, stainless steel of various temperature grades, copper, titanium and nickel alloys. Power is directly proportional to element length — for high power in compact volumes, bent shapes are used (U, M, spiral, ring). A threaded fitting with sealing ring is the most common terminal connection for immersion heaters.

Special modifications in constant demand

Finned air heaters

For rapid heating of large air volumes. Drying chambers, air-handling units, heat guns, air curtains.

Water heaters with thermowell

Heaters with built-in thermowell for boilers, indirect water heaters and heating radiators.

Flanged heater blocks for boilers

For solid-fuel boilers as backup electric heating. Flange G 1 1/4"–G 2".

Heaters with thermocouple

Built-in Type K, J, T thermocouples or PT100 RTD — for precise temperature control.

High-watt cartridge heaters

Single-ended cartridge heaters up to 50 W/cm² for moulds and tooling. H7 fit.

Miniature heaters

Diameter from 3 mm — for electronics, medical devices, 3D printers.

With sacrificial anode

Magnesium anode for scale and corrosion protection — boilers and water heaters.

DC heaters

Direct current supply: 12 V / 6000 W for autonomous systems and special vehicles.

Custom tubular heaters — exclusive parameters

Choosing the right manufacturer is the key decision when ordering a non-standard heater. We offer: engineering support (parameter calculation), 15 years of production experience, certification to GOST 13268-88 with optional DIN/IEC/ASTM compliance. To place an order we recommend providing:

  • Drawing or sketch of the required heater with dimensions;
  • Or a photo of the old heater to be replaced;
  • Description of the heating medium and working temperatures;
  • Supply voltage and required power;
  • Type of mounting — flange, fitting, H7 bore.

There are no "uninteresting" enquiries — even a single piece order is accepted. Pricing remains competitive: one-off production has no mass-production overheads, so custom heaters are more affordable than they appear.

Working with industrial and private customers worldwide

TEN-Miass works with large industrial enterprises and individual customers. Among our clients: Gazprom, IKEA, Volgograd International Airport, AHMAD TEA, and hundreds of small and medium enterprises.

We provide engineering design and technical support: if you are unsure about the heater parameters for your application — describe the operating conditions (medium, temperature, volume, flow velocity), and our engineer will calculate the required characteristics and propose the optimal solution.

For bulk customers a loyalty programme applies — the larger the order, the lower the unit price. Regular supply contracts with fixed pricing can be agreed individually.

Why TEN-Miass

Direct-from-manufacturer pricing does not mean a drastically different price from the market average. We have no distributor markups — we sell directly to the customer. But we supply heaters that match branded alternatives in quality.

Very often our products are used as drop-in replacements for failed imported heaters — including domestic appliances: boilers, sauna heaters, washing machines, electric convectors. The customer sends a photo of the old heater, we reproduce the design with identical dimensions — a direct compatible replacement.

Main reasons to choose us:

  • 15 years of experience — manufacturing since 2010;
  • From 1 piece — custom orders accepted with no minimum quantity;
  • 3–5 days lead time — vs 2–4 weeks at most competitors;
  • Worldwide shipping via DHL, FedEx, SDEK and local carriers;
  • 1 year warranty on all products;
  • Engineering support — we help select parameters for your application;
  • GOST 13268-88 + DIN/IEC/ASTM — any required standard.

How to order

Our team will answer any question about heater selection — water, air, metal, liquids and special materials. We handle any non-standard order — from a miniature 3D-printer heater to an industrial 100 kW flanged block for a steam generator.

FAQ

What does the heater marking per GOST 13268-88 mean?

Standard format: TEN [length_cm] [type]/[power_kW] [material] [voltage] [shape] [fitting]. For example, TEN 81 A13/1.0 Z 220 f2 — length 810 mm, diameter 13 mm, 1 kW, carbon steel for oil (Z), 220 V, U-shaped (f2).

What is watt density and how do I choose it correctly?

Watt density is the power per unit of sheath area (W/cm²). For water — up to 8 W/cm²; for oil — no more than 2 W/cm²; for air — no more than 1.5 W/cm². Exceeding it causes overheating and rapid failure.

What is the difference between a wet and a dry heater?

A wet heater contacts the liquid directly through its sheath — maximum heat transfer. A dry one is inserted into a metal thermowell, so the liquid never touches the tube — it can be replaced without draining the medium, but the watt density is 50–70% lower.

Which heater shapes are available?

10 standard shapes per GOST: F1 straight, F2 U-shaped, F3 L-shaped, F4 M-shaped, F5 paddle, F6 butterfly, F7 hairpin, F8 ring, F9 spiral, F10 hook. Any non-standard shape to the customer's drawing is also available.

Can you make a heater for a non-standard voltage?

Yes, the working range is 12–600 V (DC or AC). Commonly requested values: 12, 24, 36, 110, 220, 230, 380, 400 V. For special tasks — up to 1000 V by individual arrangement.

What is the service life of a heater with correct operation?

15,000–30,000 hours (8–15 years at one 8-hour shift). Conditions: keeping within watt density, the correct sheath material for the medium, no dry running and no voltage surges. In hard water — sooner, due to scale.
